I explored the patterns of Hansi Singh's Amigurumi Knits: Patterns for 20 Cute Mini Knits. In order to knit the aubergine and tomato, one needs a set of double pointed needle or two circular needles. Unfortunately I don't have that so I knitted it flat instead of circular. After knitting, I just sew, stuff then sew it up. It wasn't easy, but hey with minor revisions, I finished some veggies. By the way, Singh's terms are new to me, so I have to check several steps thru YouTube. I am so thankful for those who share their skills and talents on YouTube.
July is nutrition awareness month! Haha... ironically, I went to see my doctor and I was again reminded the importance of vegan diet for my health condition, other than vegan diet, no simple sugar as well. This is so challenging for someone who likes eating tasty meat, chips, and sweets. Perhaps knitting some veggie will inspire me... hehehe... I will knit more vegetables once I have a set of 3mm double pointed knitting needles. (n.n)

My nephew likes playing football. So I decided to knit a football player for him. This will be a great surprise for his upcoming birthday. I decided to make two. One following the color he wanted and the other following the Ateneo Football Center's uniform color.
What's so great about deciding to make two of this pattern was... my nephew wanted to celebrate his birthday with his bestfriend, so I ended up inviting his bestfriend last minute... so tadah... instant give away for Joaquin's birthday - a football player for his friend. So meet the football buddies... I got the pattern from Jean Greenhowe's Mascot Dolls. I always wanted to knit a mermaid. I tried my best to look for the perfect yarn for this project, but failed so I ended up knitting it with the usual acrylic yarn I use. This was not an "easy" knit project. I sew then unstitch the body after realizing that the upper body is way too big for the fish tail. Haha... but despite my minor revision my mermaid turned out to be macho, so I called it the Macho Mermaid... *^.^*
My niece loves this doll, well she's one of those kids who loves to hoard things/toys... but what makes this doll extra special? My 5-year old niece watches ABS-CBN's on going teleserye about the teenager mermaid, called Aryana. The pattern was based on Zoe Halstead's Knitted & Felted Toys: 26 Easy-to-knit Patterns for Adorable Toys. Today, I finished knitting this cool looking super kid! I decided to replace the letter S with R since my nephew asked me to make it for him. Say hello to Super Rock! Sabay kanta ng LMFAO Party Rock - Super Rock is in the house tonight... hehehe I love singing that song whenever my nephew visits us.
I followed Jean Greenhowe's Little Gift Dolls booklet. The best pattern I encountered was Jean Greenhowe's, it's easy to follow and I understand most of her terms and instructions. Five days ago I received a message. It was a simple message asking for Joaquin's birthday and her daughter will be celebrating her birthday on the 8th of July.
I suddenly had an idea to knit a toy for Sophia, that same day I started knitting, sewing, stuffing... finally after five days of excitement, procrastination and determination I finished it! Pattern derived from Jean Greenhowe's Mascot Dolls. |
